England Hockey have recommended looking up "Hockey Hub" which is their Online training Hub. It has information on Hockey Umpiring and Coaching with interactive content and a list of courses and certifications. You have to register on the website to access all the learning resources.

On the Hockey Hub website, there is a "Rules of Hockey" page that provides information on all aspects of the game including playing, umpiring, code of conduct, equipment etc.

This is a free course, has 22 modules and short online tests after every module.

It's not very long, very well structured with easy to read content and video examples of how the rules are applied on the field of play.

This course is a pre-requisite for all Umpiring courses.

Umpire Level 1 Course (Online): (Cost £30)

This course is designed for anyone who is going to be umpiring the 11-a-side game and is delivered fully online.

The course is made up of 4 modules:

- The game from a players' perspective

- The role of the umpire

- Player management

- Preparation and planning the next steps

Once completed, you will receive your Level 1 Unassessed Umpires Certificate.
