Come on Bulldogs!!

On Saturday NPL Bulldogs entertained Leatherhead 3rd team at home with both teams looking for their second victory of the season in the Surrey Open Hockey League Division 5. As the rain cleared, both teams created chances straight from the start but it was NPL who scored mid-way through the first half, the final touch coming off a defender. Kevin Skinner then added a second from a short corner to give NPL a 2:0 lead at half-time. The second half was a much more closely contested affair with Leatherhead having a succession of short corners and Simon Shelly being forced to make a number of important saves. However at the other end his son Richard added a third goal for NPL and the NPL defence held firm to record their first clean sheet of the season. Overall it was a good match between two well-matched teams and Leatherhead deserve a lot of credit for using matches like this to develop their younger players.
